LET’S MEET - the entrepreneur left her business for a couple of weeks to help Estonian Refugee Council

The head of Bon Soya's vegan food business, Karin Miller, was one of many volunteers who left her paid job during the escalating war to devote herself full-time to Estonian Refugee Council's evacuation headquarters. She chose Estonian Refugee Council because of our quick action and long experience: „Refugee Council was the first organization to fill the vacuum of needed assistance that arose after the outbreak of war when countries themselves could not mobilize aid.“

Volunteering gives Karin peace of mind. „It may sound like a cliché, but trying to make the world a better place creates a warm feeling inside me.“ Volunteering gives a sense of unity and an understanding that all of us as humans are connected. „One thing is for sure – being a volunteer gives you more than it takes in return,“ Karin said.

In addition to her volunteer work, in March Karin donated all the profits of her enterprise to Estonian Refugee Council, totaling 13,000 euros. Now she is refocusing on her Bon Soya venture, where she has employed six Ukrainians and helped their families adjust to living in Estonia. „Do to others what you would like to be done to yourself“ is a principle that Karin follows in her personal and business life. Her dream is to see a world free from violence, where people are healthy and empathetic toward other living things as well as toward their own planet.
