Every day, families arrive at evacuation centres in Ukraine having been forced to leave their homes and now seeking safety. As part of our Mother’s Day campaign, the Estonian Refugee Council is raising funds to support the work of these centres. Donations help provide families with essential assistance upon arrival and keep children’s spaces running, offering comfort, stability and a sense of security in difficult circumstances.

For families displaced by war, evacuation centres are often their first point of refuge. Many arrive after long and dangerous journeys lasting several days, with little food or sleep. They are often forced to leave in haste, taking only what they can carry.

At evacuation centres, families receive temporary shelter and initial support. Alongside basic necessities such as food, accommodation and hygiene supplies, it is vital that children have a dedicated space where they can play, rest and briefly escape what is happening around them. These child-friendly spaces help ease stress and support both children and their parents in regaining a sense of safety.

However, many centres still face shortages of essential items for families and children, including bedding, hygiene supplies, toys and materials for creative activities – all of which are crucial for providing basic assistance and creating a supportive, secure environment.

Every donation helps support those who have been forced to flee their homes. Make a donation to help ensure every child has a safe place.
